STANDING THE TEST OF TIME
Cheseldine Auto Celebrates 25 Years
In a time when local businesses barely squeak past the elusive five-year mark, Cheseldine Auto Group is proud to celebrate 25 years of doing business in Southern Maryland.
As a small family-owned, independently operated company, Cheseldine has grown slowly, but steadily, from its first days as an auto repair shop in 1989. Cheseldine Auto Group has expanded to include auto sales, tire maintenance, and a full service car wash. It is their diversifying of services and consistent, gradual growth that has allowed Cheseldine to weather the storms.
Even more than that, it’s the relationships the owners and brothers have built over time. Gary and Johnny Cheseldine both cite the customers who have been with them since their earliest days, who continue to entrust their vehicles to Cheseldine as their proudest accomplishment in business. “I’ve had customers since their children were young, and now we are working with the kid’s car,” Gary explained. “They trust us to work on all their cars. It’s trust and dedication.” They even have customers who come from as far as Virginia to remain loyal to Cheseldine. Why? Johnny says it’s because they are a small independent company whose owners work every day. That consistency and commitment instills confidence in their customers.
Cheseldine Auto Group also has a remarkably low turn over rate, with employees staying with them for decades. This not only points to a great working environment, full of quality and integrity, but also maintains unity as customers stop in. “They see the same faces and they know us by our first names,” Gary said. Those names and faces continue to reinforce trust and loyalty.
As their company has grown, Cheseldine Auto Group has remained rooted in the community. They take pride in providing local jobs. They also give back to the community through church organizations, such as YoungLife, local schools, veterans’ support, and more. “We’ve built relationships that we never would have been able to had we not had this local business,” Johnny concluded.
